Preface
We have come to know from the knowledge of history that art has been accepted worldwide as a way of our expression of our mind from the very ancient age. When people could not make themselves so civilized as they are today, no specific language was born till that time, then those people could express their thoughts through the presentation of some artistic figures only, those they could draw on the stone walls of hills, mountains and caves; history repeatedly informed us about this.
So from one angle we can reveal it that the art, specially drawings and paintings was the first language of human beings from the primitive age. But-now the time has been changed totally in comparison with those days of thousands of years ago. Leaving the ancient cloths made of tree barks, people have boarded the Super-Sonic jets of civilization and marching ahead towards progress day by day. But on the way of civilization, what is unchanged, that is the interests of people in art, still a language for our expression.
In this context we can also mention about folk styles of art. In our country, in the various districts of the states here shows different styles of their folk-art. These styles and patterns are being followed generationwise till today Patachitras of Kalighat , Terracotta art of Bankura, Dokra developed in Birbhum, clay modellings of Krishnanagar are the few examples of contributions of West Bengal whereas Madhubani paintings of Bihar, miniature paintings and script writings on palm-leaves, miniatures paintings of Rajasthan have kept us astonished for hundreds of years.
But still these art forms are going to be abolished as they are not getting patronisation from the civilized people of modern age.
On the other hand big bardens of education have started to smash the childhood of newer generations. Parents and guardians started running from door to door of different reputed schools to get a chance for the admission of their kids. People forgot art along with music is The Primary Medium of child’s education.
After viewing these disorders of civilization, artists and art-conscious people have been shocked tremendously. They have thought and discussed regularly how the interests in art can be revived in minds of future-generation children. But the matter is yet a subject to develop.
Keeping this point in our mind, a group of working painters tried to do a little in this context and we have discussed the matter with eminent painters late Bijan Chowdhury, Prakash Karmakar, Debabrata Chakraborty (sculptor), Sri Harilal Shaw and so on. We have discussed the matter also with younger generation of painters, like Sri Ujjwal Majumder, Sri Harimohan Baghi and others.
All have come with their whole-hearted support for starting a scientific syllabus for art-education for children and that is under the leadership of SARBABHARATIYA CHARU -O- KARUKALA NIKET.
It is of pleasure that our syllabus has been highly successful on serving its purpose.
President’s Desk
Seventeen years ago the journey was started of a new-born organization ‘Sarbabharatiya Charu-O-Karukala Niket’ with a target to make the younger generations and children of our country well aware of all the aspects of art, which is also a important part in our modern civilization. What we know from history of the world that when the people didn’t have any specific language to express their inner thoughts, then the art was only medium for their expressions. This truth has been revealed by the inventions of ancient cave paintings.
So we must think that art is a powerful medium to express one’s mind even today. So its culture should get an increasing height in people’s mind.
From that vision we started this journey to educate people specially young ones in the language of art which also bring pleasure to their mind and a refreshing touch to their mind and soul.
Now, after Seventeen years we are surprised to notice that without any specific campaign we have attained a target of twenty two thousand students who are appearing this year’s examinations conducted by our board all over India.
Actually what has happened during this long period that people who are pleased with the systems and curriculum of our board, themselves they have publish on behalf of us. So that no. of students have increased regularly day by day to fulfill our targets.
Hope this number will increase to a larger figure in future days. We can say that what is our main capital, that is our honest efforts for the sake of art.
The centre-holders of various art-institutions affiliated to our board have extended their co-operations to make us march ahead.
I am sure that we will be able to create a new horizon in our field of art and help people, specially a large part of younger generations to gain their artistic sense and mind.
Thanking you,
Biswajit Mondal
President
Secretary’s Views
Thank you viewers / readers, thank you all.
After being started Seventeen years ago, we have achieved a remarkable success, step by step. We think our main features which attract people to us are:
- The board is governed by some working painters and creative personalities.
- This board deals only with painting and crafts unlike other boards working in this field. Whereas other boards deals also with music, dances, recitation etc.
So we can say that we are dealing those subjects only, which we can go through very well. Hence, we can say again that we are not interested to be the jack of all trades but master of none.
People, who are working in this field of art-education are loving our this attitude of having a low-profile status.
We have no full page advertisements in newspapers ; we have no loud campaigning on behalf of us regularly. But still people come to us regularly to affiliate their schools with us that proves the success of our journey, one and a half decade long.
The other features which support us on our long way are:
- We organize exhibitions regularly with selected paintings of our candidates in one of the prominent and big galleries in our City of Joy-Kolkata which earns high appreciation from people who come to view those shows from all over India and it encourages us to move ahead.
- The curriculum and system of our theory education and exam is very interesting, mostly in objective style which starts from 2nd year classes.
- From 5th to 8th year’s Annual Examination, there are two papers in Practical Part, 1st Paper is to be made with water colour composition, in case of 2nd Paper oil painting is not compulsory ; students can appear with an optional medium, stated by board.
Beyond these, many more features have made our curriculum very attractive.
Hope your kind visit to our office.
